Trump Seeks Way Out of Conflict with Iran, Reportedly Considering Opening Strait of Hormuz

After talking about a major military operation against Iran, now US President Donald Trump seems to be looking for a way out of this war. According to the report, Trump is now considering putting aside the nuclear issue and presenting the conflict with Iran as a victory if Tehran fully opens the Strait of Hormuz. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump has prepared the ground for such an outcome in the past few weeks and has privately told senior aides that he can withdraw even without a nuclear deal with Iran. However, Iran has put forward several major demands for opening. These include billions of dollars in payments, ending the US naval blockade, withdrawal of US troops from the region, and other concessions. Iran's ability to stop the movement of ships through Hormuz has given it a huge advantage. The movement of commercial ships has been affected due to missile and drone attacks, and the US has imposed a toll on the global oil market. Secretary of National Security Mohammad Javad Zarif has said that Iran's efforts to impose sanctions in the form of a war on Iran have been rejected by the US Security Council.
