The UAE on Friday officially accused Iran of attacking two of its commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The incident is said to have taken place on Thursday evening, when two tankers belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) were crossing the waterway. The UAE Foreign Ministry has called the incident a hostile Iranian attack. According to a United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) report, the vessels were targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). However, no crew members were reported injured in the attack. The ships have suffered minor damage and the situation is said to be under control. The Strait of Hormuz is considered a lifeline for the world in terms of global oil supplies, but currently Iran has effectively cordoned it off. Iran is planning to charge its commercial vessels using this route, and its allies, the US, three times in the past week.
