UAE Accuses Iran of Drone Attack on Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates has accused Iran of a drone attack on two oil tankers of its state-owned oil company ADNOC passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE Foreign Ministry on Friday called the attacks "piracy." No casualties have been reported, but the incident has raised concerns again about the safety of ships passing through Hormuz. ADNOC reported that two tankers owned by it were attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday evening. According to the company, no one was hurt in the attack and the situation has been brought under control. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center of the UK military also reported that two ships were attacked with drones and suffered minor damage while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. However, the British military organization did not identify the ships, but the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs is believed to be directly responsible for the incident. The Iranian Ministry of Shipping and the United Nations called it a violation of freedom of navigation principles.
