With the Assembly elections approaching, the Udalguri district administration has stepped up preparations to ensure a smooth and peaceful polling process across the district. In a move aimed at promoting women’s participation in electoral management, district election authorities have designated 110 polling stations spread across all four Assembly constituencies, to be operated entirely by women personnel. These stations form part of the district’s total of 865 polling centres, reflecting a focused push towards greater female representation in the electoral process. To facilitate polling operations, around 4,500 government employees have been deployed across various roles, including polling duties and logistical support, to ensure efficiency and order on voting day. The district has a total electorate of 6,94,848 voters, who are scheduled to cast their votes on April 9. This includes 3,44,446 male voters, 3,50,397 female voters, and five voters from the third-gender category. Among the constituencies, Mazbat has the highest number of electors at 1,85,514, followed by Tangla with 1,79,941 voters. Udalguri (ST) constituency accounts for 1,69,206 electors, while Bhergaon has 1,60,187 voters.
