UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Under Pressure to Resign After Labour Party's Local Election Defeat

London: Troubles for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are showing no signs of abating. After the crushing defeat of the Labour Party in the recent local elections, pressure is now mounting on PM Starmer to set a deadline to resign or step down. The number of rebel Labour MPs has risen to 72 by early Tuesday morning. Out of the total 403 MPs of the Labour Party, 71 have so far openly demanded Starmer's resignation. These MPs say that either the PM should step down immediately or make it clear when he will resign. The British government cabinet is now split into two. The biggest blow came when Interior Minister Shabana Mahmood openly asked the Prime Minister to announce the date of her resignation. However, most of the cabinet ministers are still with the PM, but Shabana Mahmood's big name is in opposition. Questions have been raised against the stability of the government.
