Amid disruptions in Parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to facilitate a discussion in the House on alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, placing the onus on the Opposition to enable the debate. In a letter to Birla, Shah said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had agreed at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee to a discussion between the Government and the Opposition on the NEET issue. Shah pointed out that during the discussion on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, no Opposition MP had raised issues relating to the NEET examination in the House. “Despite that, the Government is fully prepared for a discussion on this issue,” he said. He said he would remain present in the House during the allotted time to participate in the debate and answer questions from Opposition MPs.
