Union Minister Requests MP Govt to Speed Up Moong Procurement at 100% MSP

Amid the ongoing farmers'agitation in Madhya Pradesh over the procurement of moong at 100% Minimum Support Price (MSP), the administrative and political corridors are now witnessing a major stir. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written a detailed letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav requesting him to speed up the procurement of moong in the state. Shivraj Singh Chouhan clarified through the letter that out of the total 5 lakh 23 thousand 243 metric tons of moong that has been approved by the Central Government across the country under the PM-AASHA (Price Support Scheme), the highest quota of 87% i.e. 4 lakh 54 thousand 580 metric tons has been allocated to Madhya Pradesh alone. Replying to the allegations of the State Agriculture Minister Aidal Singh Kanshana that the Center has given a low procurement target, the Union Minister clarified. On behalf of Shivraj, it was written that the Central Government does not provide a fixed'target'of procurement to any state, but under the rules, the state government approves the MSP limit of 25% of the total production of the state. The state government's procurement of moong is also above its budgeted limit of 29 July 202 years.
