On receiving information, police reached the spot and tried to open the gate. During this, a scuffle broke out between the police and the students. After a heated argument, ABVP activists sat on a dharna at the main gate. They called the vice-chancellor to the spot and demanded direct talks. When the acting registrar arrived to talk to the students, the protesters refused to discuss with him. The ABVP demanded immediate restoration of the students'union elections, saying that the postponement of the elections was affecting democratic traditions and depriving the students of the right to choose their representatives. The Parishad demanded regular students'union elections every year, implementation of a uniform academic calendar for all government universities, timely academic sessions, examinations and results with effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020. Apart from this, regular appointments to vacant academic and non-academic posts in universities, appointment of permanent principals in all state-run colleges and independent recruitment of Rajasthani language teachers in all universities of the state were also demanded.
