On Sunday, 20 rebel TMC MPs announced that they were joining a party called the NCPI. After this decision, this small, almost unknown party became the largest parliamentary party in Bengal overnight. But when the media searched for this party, what they found was surprising. The full name of the NCPI is Nationalist Citizens Party of India. This party is originally registered in Tripura, and according to the Election Commission, it is an unrecognized party. This means that this party has not received any official recognition from the Election Commission. In the 2023 panchayat elections, this party fielded two candidates in Bengal. But could not win a single seat. Both candidates received 822 votes in total. When the news agency PTI visited the NCPI's Bengal registered address, it turned out to be a common house in Sankrail area of Howrah district. This property is named after Uttia Kundu and his wife Shevali Kundu. According to the neighborhood editor of the newspaper, it was installed 8 years ago at a house near the'Main Gate'of the North Bengal district.
