The results of 10 Rajya Sabha seats in UP are now almost clear. The unopposed election of eight BJP and two Samajwadi Party candidates will be officially announced on 9 October. In fact, a total of 12 candidates had filed nominations for 10 seats. These included eight from the BJP, two from the SP and two independents. The election papers of independent candidates Omkarnath Chaurasia and Kante Saina were cancelled. Thus, 10 candidates were left for 10 seats. The nomination papers of eight from the BJP and two from the SP were found valid. There will be no need for elections to be held on 16 October. The term of 10 members of the Rajya Sabha of UP is ending on 25 November. Therefore, biennial elections are being held for these 10 seats. The BJP has nominated state minister Dharampal Singh (Lodh), party's backward class morcha president Prakash Pal (Pal), Shruti Gangwar (Kurmi), Vidyasagar Sonkar, Priyanka Radha (Dalit), Gopi Krishan Ojha (Brahmin), Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan (Brahmin) and Parimal Pratap Singh (Thakur) from the party for 10 Rajya Sabha seats.
