US Ambassador Visits Leh Amid Reports of Meeting with Dalai Lama

After several important meetings in Jammu and Kashmir, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore arrived in Leh. This is another historic visit by a top American diplomat to this strategic border area after the Galwan clash in 2020 and the subsequent border tensions with China. According to media reports, the US Ambassador was to meet Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in Leh. On reports of this possible meeting, Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) clarified that talks were initially considered, but the schedule had to be changed at the last minute. Talking about these plans, Sikyong Penpa Tsering told news agency ANI that until yesterday, we were told that a possible meeting could take place. Our office was not involved in these discussions nor were we informed about it. Late last night, there was a change in the schedule, so it seems that this meeting is not taking place. He (His Holiness) has already visited these places.
