US and China Leaders Meet at White House to Strengthen Ties and Foster Cooperation

US President Donald Trump and China's President Xi Jinping met at the White House on Thursday. Xi Jinping, who arrived in Washington after more than a decade, was formally welcomed by Trump and his wife Melania Trump. The two leaders emphasized improving US-China relations and avoiding confrontation between the two countries in their opening remarks. Issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), trade, technology, Taiwan, and communication between the militaries of the two countries were also discussed. Trump said that just as the United States and China worked together during World War II, the two countries can now work together to build a better future. He described his relationship with Xi Jinping as a very good friendship and said that this relationship has been built since he was first elected president in 2016. Xi Jinping said that he came to the United States at Trump's invitation to advance the friendship of the two countries, enhance cooperation, and ensure the well-being of the two peoples. Xi and Xi said that China and the United States should benefit from cooperation between the two countries in a peaceful manner.
