US Enforces Strait of Hormuz Blockade Amid Escalating Tensions in Middle East

Tensions continue to escalate in the region amid the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command (CENTCOM) reports that the US Navy is strictly enforcing the blockade against Iran. As of September 2, the US military has rerouted 86 commercial vessels, disabled 3 vessels, and conducted inspections on board 2 vessels to ensure compliance. Meanwhile, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched 10 ballistic missiles. According to the Yemeni government military, these missiles were launched towards areas in western Yemen. The missiles were targeted at Mokha city in Ta'izz province and Al-Khokha district in Hodeidah province. According to Yemeni sources, most of the missiles were fired towards Mokha. Mokha city has also been subject to drone attacks by Houthi rebels in recent weeks. The latest missile attacks come as Yemeni government forces and Houthi forces are engaged in fierce battles in the Ta'imah-Al-Qadah region.
