US Fully Implements Alien Registration Rule for Immigrants

This is great news for immigrants living in the United States. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has fully implemented the Alien Registration Rule. This rule was originally introduced as an interim arrangement in 2025, but has now been made the definitive and final law. Simply put, this rule makes it legally necessary for certain immigrants living in the US to register themselves with the government, provide fingerprints, and have proof of registration with themselves. The US government says this step will help them keep accurate location and accurate information about foreigners living in the country, which will improve security. According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the foundation of this stringent rule was laid after an executive order signed by President Donald Trump in January 2025. This order gave clear instructions to the Department of Homeland Security that they will treat all non-citizens under Section 26 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) strictly as civil citizens.
