US-Iran Conflict Results in Significant Military Losses and Costly Operation

The conflict in the United States and Iran has resulted in at least 42 U.S. fighter aircraft destroyed, as well as many drones, including several fighter jets, lost or damaged. An official report states that the conflict has caused many casualties. The damage may be exacerbated by many factors. The Congressional Research Service (CRS) report states that this includes classification, ongoing combat operations, and support aircraft. Defense Department Economic Chief Jules Hurst III said during a May 12 hearing that, "Having a refined budget for equipment repair or replacement costs has led to a large increase in U.S. spending in the conflict in the United States and Iran." Although the Defense Department and U.S. Defense News Service (CRSS) have not yet published full U.S. Department of Defense and Defense policy analyses, no U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) reports have been completed.
