US-Iran Peace Deal Draft Emerges, Agreeing on Key Issues

The months-long tussle over the US-Iran peace deal seems to be coming to an end. A draft of the proposed peace deal between the two countries has emerged, which claims to have reached agreement on a number of major issues, from the nuclear program to oil trade, the Strait of Hormuz, and the freezing of billions of dollars. According to a Reuters report, under the proposed agreement, Iran has promised that it will neither build nuclear weapons nor seek to acquire them by any other means. This has been one of the biggest demands of the United States. According to the draft, the enrichment level of high-enriched uranium held by Iran will also be reduced. However, how this process will take place has not yet been finalized. The two sides will decide its technical framework within the next 60 days. The biggest attraction of this agreement is the frozen funds to Iran. US officials claim that the freezes could include direct cash transfers to 25 countries and the release of regional funds.
