US Issues Security Alert for Citizens in Jordan Amid Tensions with Iran

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, the United States has issued a new security alert for its citizens in Jordan. The US Embassy in Jordan said on Sunday that a specific and credible threat has been received regarding the southern port city of Aqaba. The embassy advised US citizens to avoid travel to Aqaba's international airport and seaport. The US Embassy also claimed that Jordanian authorities have evacuated both compounds as a precaution. However, the Jordanian government rejected the US claim. Jordanian government spokesman Mohammed al-Momani said that no evacuation order has been issued for Aqaba Airport or seaport. He said that in the last few hours Jordanian security agencies have not detected any potential threat and that the airport and seaport are operating normally. Meanwhile, the Jordanian Armed Forces claimed that they shot down three Iranian missiles coming towards the country. Jordanian authorities evacuated both the compounds as a precaution. However, the Jordanian government has not issued any order to evacuate either the Aqaba Airport or the seaport. The Jordanian embassy reported no casualties or damage to its property in the incident.
