US Midterm Elections Underway: Early Results Emerge Amidst Widespread Dissatisfaction

Counting of votes for the 2026 midterm elections has begun in many states of the United States. Early results are also beginning to emerge. These elections will determine who will occupy both houses of the US Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate. The results of these elections may also have an impact on the rest of President Donald Trump's term. More than 210 million Americans were eligible to vote in these elections. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 37 seats in the Senate, and 36 state governorships were up for election. In addition, many local positions were up for election. A pre-election survey revealed resentment among people about the country's situation, inflation, and the economy. According to early data from CNN's voter poll, a large number of voters are not satisfied with the country's current direction and President Trump's performance. The survey also revealed that one in five voters who voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election is no longer happy with the results of these elections.
