US Special Envoy's Jammu and Kashmir Visit Sparks Controversy with Pakistan

To strengthen relations with India, the US made such a bet that Pakistan raised eyebrows. Donald Trump's special envoy Sergio Gore was on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday (August 20). Here Sergio Gore held a meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and described Jammu and Kashmir as an "integral part of India," which angered Pakistan. He summoned the US Charge d'Affaires in Islamabad and strongly objected to it. Not only this, Sergio Gore's next step is like putting his hand on China's sore throat. Sergio Gore, who is considered close to Trump, hinted that the travel advisory issued after the Pahalgam terror attack could be reconsidered. Speaking to reporters, he said, "Jammu and Kashmir is an important part of India and that is why I came here for the first time. It is an incredibly beautiful place and that is why I am thrilled to be here." The US State Department has issued a Level 4 Travel Advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, citing security concerns.
