Uttarakhand Nihang Controversy Takes Political Turn: Congress Questions Government's Handling

The controversy surrounding the Nihangs in Uttarakhand has now taken a direct political turn. The Congress has sharply questioned the state government by linking the case to law and order. On the other hand, the BJP has categorically denied these allegations and made the government's intentions clear. They have said that their priority is to ensure that the yatra goes peacefully and law and order is maintained. Uttarakhand Congress spokesperson Sujata Paul has directly implicated the state government and the police administration in this entire case. She has said that the government's leniency towards the Nihangs is creating an atmosphere of fear among the general public. Sujata Paul has also questioned the basis on which the accused were let off when they were arrested. She said that the transparency that should have been shown in the entire investigation process was nowhere to be seen. The Congress spokesperson has sought a direct answer from the DGP and the government regarding this. She has also added that the electoral system and the timing of the law should not be compromised.
