Vande Mataram Controversy: Congress and BJP Lock Horns Over National Song

There is a controversy over the national song Vande Mataram. On the one hand, the Congress is adamant on singing two verses of this song. On the other hand, the BJP has linked it to appeasement and accused the Congress of shredding the national song. The whole matter started when the entire Vande Mataram song was played during the flag hoisting at the Congress office on Independence Day. When Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi objected to its singing even after two paragraphs of this song. BJP leaders called this incident an insult to the national song. The controversy intensified only after the video of Kharge and Sonia Gandhi indicating to stop the song went viral. The BJP even said that the Congress hates this song and has always been doing appeasement politics. On this, the Congress met and decided that the Congress would sing only the first two paragraphs of the song. According to the party's stand taken in 1937, in the Congress meeting, the Congress leaders will not sing only the first two verses of this song.
