West Asia Tensions Flare Up Again After Ceasefire Ends

Tensions have flared up again in West Asia after an 18-day ceasefire. Iranian drone attacks in the UAE, a red alert in Bahrain, and the Hormuz Strait crisis have raised global alarms. Iranian media, citing military sources, claim US forces targeted two civilian boats carrying Iranian cargo. Iran says these were ordinary cargo ships, not IRGC speedboats, and five civilians on board were killed. A ceasefire is currently in effect between the US and Iran in the Middle East. However, there are fears of another outbreak of war in the region. On Monday, Iran launched a drone attack on the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to reports, the drone strike set fire to an oil plant. Three Indian nationals are also reported to have been injured in the attack. Fujairah is important to the UAE. Fujairah is the terminus of a pipeline that Iran is using during the Iran-UAE Strait war to transport Indian citizens wounded in the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since the ceasefire went into effect on Monday.
