The second phase of polling for the West Bengal Assembly elections is underway on Wednesday. Just ahead of it, the tussle between Trinamool Congress candidate Jahangir and UP-cadre IPS Ajay Pal Sharma, who went to West Bengal as an observer, is being discussed across the country. Meanwhile, IPS Ajay Pal Sharma has got a big relief from the Calcutta High Court. The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday said that it will not issue any order against any officer on election duty till April 29, when the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections is to be held. A lawyer had orally prayed in the court of Justice Krishna Rao to stop IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma from working in the zone. IPS Ajay Pal is the police observer appointed by the Election Commission for the state Assembly elections in South 24 Parganas district. The lawyer alleged that Ajay Pal is violating the code of conduct. To this, Justice Rao said that he will not pass any order about any officer on election duty till April 29. The lawyer did not file a complaint about the entire voting process.
