Kolkata, Dt. 7: In a historic decision taken by the Election Commission of West Bengal in view of the upcoming elections, a new district-wise electoral roll has been published for the first time. In this new list, the Commission has removed the names of about 91 lakh voters in a major action. According to the Election Commission, a total of 60,06,675 voters were under scrutiny, out of which 27,16,393 names have been deleted after thorough verification. The total number of deleted names has now reached 90,83,345 counting the list published earlier in February and the current process. As far as district-wise figures are concerned, the highest number of names have been removed from the electoral roll in Murshidabad district, where about 4.5 lakh voters have been declared ineligible. Then 3.25 lakh voters in North 24 Parganas, 2.2 lakh in Malda, 2.2 lakh in South 24 Parganas and 2.08 lakh in Nadia have been deleted.
