Nabanna has notified an increase in ad-hoc bonus for civic volunteers working under Kolkata and state police. A government order to this effect was issued on Thursday. Civic volunteers were so far getting an allowance of Rs 6,800. While 2025-26 civic volunteers will get an allowance of Rs 7,000 (increased to Rs 600) in the financial year. The decision will also be applicable to village policemen. Notably, the government had already announced an increase in ad-hoc bonus for government employees. On the day of the announcement of the election schedule, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced an increase in allowance for priests and muezzins by Rs 500. The state government also announced an increase in bonus for Hindus before Puja and for Muslims before Eid. The interim budget before the elections had decided to increase the monthly remuneration of civic volunteers by Rs 1,000. Apart from civic volunteers, this decision was also taken for green police and village police personnel. The state government had also decided to recruit more than 1.5 lakh volunteers for traffic control and traffic management during the festive season.
