The first major reshuffle at the state administrative level took place within a day of the announcement of the Assembly election results. IAS officer Soumitra Mohan was appointed as the new Secretary to the Governor of West Bengal, R. N. Ravi. The 2002-batch IAS officer had served as the Secretary to the State Transport Department for more than three years. He was not removed at that time, although there were several changes at the administrative level during the poll campaign. However, he was appointed as the Secretary to the Governor soon after the vote took place. Governor R. N. Ravi was sworn in at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on 12 March this year. Soon after taking charge, he requested the state government to appoint a Secretary. However, the matter was postponed due to the announcement of the elections at that time. The appointment was finally completed after the voting process was completed. Earlier, IAS officer Nandini Chakraborty was appointed as the new Secretary to the Governor during the tenure of the former Governor of the state, C. V. Ananda Bose. However, she was removed from the post within a short period of time. Later on Tuesday, she served as the Home Secretary of the state and finally as the Chief Secretary to the Governor.
