Xi Jinping Returns from North Korea Visit, Reaches Consensus with Kim Jong Un

Chinese President Xi Jinping has returned after wrapping up his two-day visit to North Korea. He said that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have reached an important consensus on many important issues. Xi returned to Beijing on Tuesday after a grand welcome and high-level meetings in Pyongyang. This was his first visit to North Korea since 2019. Xi Jinping was given a colorful red-carpet welcome when he arrived in Pyongyang on Monday. Soon after, he assured Kim Jong Un of China's firm support. This message comes at a time when North Korea has significantly strengthened its relations with Russia in recent years. The growing closeness of Moscow and Pyongyang has raised Beijing's strategic concerns. However, no major agreements or formal deals have been announced between the two countries during this visit. Significantly, no concrete statements have been made on the issue of denuclearization. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has not officially called the People's Republic of Korea's policy on the subject of denuclearization.
