The anger of young people angered by education, inflation, unemployment, and government policies is now visible on the streets in many European countries. Mass demonstrations took place for the third consecutive Saturday in France, while youth also joined the movement in Germany, Portugal, and the Netherlands. However, the demonstrations in France were largely peaceful compared to the previous two weeks, while the movement in some cities of Germany turned violent. In Frankfurt, rioters among the protesters vandalized and looted stores, even taking weapons from a gun shop. According to AP, many protesters took to the streets in scary costumes on Halloween in France. Police feared that such costumes could make it difficult to identify the perpetrators of violence. According to government estimates, about 3.2 million people took part in demonstrations across the country. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez reported that 70,000 security personnel were deployed for security and surveillance. Helicopters were also placed over the cities. Students, worried about inflation, and climate activists also took part in some of the demonstrations. Late in the evening, Macron's group participated in the demonstrations.
