Political parties will now begin their campaigns in full strength as the festival of Chhath has now concluded. The Mahagathbandhan has released its manifesto for theBihar elections 2025on Tuesday. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, MP Sonia Gandhi,Rahul Gandhiand Priyanka Gandhi, among others are scheduled to address various rallies in the state. Prime MinisterNarendra Modilast week addressed public meetings in Bihar, and he will again visit the state on October 30. Both BJP and Congress have already released their list of star campaigners. The election commission on Monday released the schedule for the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in 12 states and UTs. The announcement has reignited the debate around the exercise with leaders questioning what all did the poll panel exactly get fromBihar SIR. Congress leader Pramod Tiwari on Monday questioned the Election Commission of India (ECI), asking for the number of âinfiltratorsâ removed from the electoral roll in the first phase in Bihar. Speaking to ANI, Tiwari said, âFrom the Home Minister to the Prime Minister, they were talking about infiltrators, but did the Election Commission say how many infiltrators they removed (during SIR in Bihar)? Now they could have shared figures on this.â Notably, the ECI has not exactly mentioned the number of infiltrators excluded from the final voter list of 7.42 crore electors in Bihar. Chief Election CommissionerGyanesh Kumarlisted migration, voters registered at more than one place, names not deleted after death, and a foreign nationalâs name being included in the voter list as factors behind the nationwide SIR. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday asserted that law and order has significantly improved in the state after his government came to power in November 2005. He said that today, âbeing Bihari is a matter of pride nowâ for its residents. In a post on X, the CM wrote, âPeople canât forget Bihar before 2005, when crime and corruption were at their peak in the state. When our government came to power in 2005, we prioritised the restoration of law and order above all else and established the rule of law. A policy of zero tolerance was adopted for crime and corruption. Now, there is no atmosphere of fear or terror in the state. Now, being Bihari is a matter of pride for the people of the state.â Hitting out at the INDIA bloc, without taking names of the Opposition leaders, the CM said that before 2005 (when the RJD was in power), there was complete anarchy in the state.â âIt had become difficult for people to step out of their homes after 6 pm. Our sisters and daughters were not safe. Kidnapping had taken the form of an industry. Vehicles were looted from showrooms. Due to the fear of criminals, no one wanted to buy a new vehicle,â he added. Nitish said that in 2005, the number of police stations in Bihar was only 817, which has now been increased to over 1,380,â he added. On November 24, 2005, when the new government came to power, the strength of the Bihar Police was quite low. At that time, only 42,481 police personnel were employed, Kumar further added. In what the ruling NDA called disrespect to the Parliament and the Supreme Court, INDIA blocâs CM candidate and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday vowed to throw the Waqf Act in âdustbinâ if his alliance comes to power. Addressing back-to-back public rallies in the Muslim-dominated Katihar, Kishanganj and Araria districts, Yadav said his father, Lalu Prasad, the RJD chief, never compromised with communal forces in the country. âBut Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has always supported such forces, and it is because of him that the RSS and its affiliates are spreading communal hatred in the state as well as in the country. The BJP should be called âBharat Jalao Partyâ. If the INDIA bloc comes to power in the state, we will throw the Waqf Act into the dustbin,â he said. The Waqf (Amendment) Act was passed by Parliament in April. The ruling BJP-led NDA has hailed the law as a step towards transparency and empowerment for backward Muslims and women in the community, while the opposition has criticised it, alleging that it infringes upon the rights of Muslims. "The Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act will be reviewed and the ban on toddy (tari) in the state will be removed. Immediate relief will be provided to Dalits and other poor people languishing in jail for violating the law. Traditional occupations based on toddy and mahua will be excluded from the ambit of the prohibition law," the document said. RJD leader and INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav said the move would restore the livelihoods of those dependent on the traditional toddy trade. "The community which has been doing this toddy business for generations has no other means of livelihood or agricultural land. This ban needs to be removed," Yadav said. Sale and consumption of toddy are banned in the state under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, which came into force in April 2016. The INDIA bloc, in its 32-page-long 'Bihar ka Tejashwi Pran', has promised 200 units of free electricity to every household in the state. Congress said that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will join the INDIA bloc campaign for the Bihar polls on Wednesday. |Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday addressed the issue of his two voter id cards. "I am a voter from the Kargahar Assembly constituency since 2019. For two years, when I was in Kolkata, I had made a voter ID card there. Since 2021, my voter ID has been for the Kargahar Assembly constituency. If the ECI is saying that my name is enrolled as an elector in other places as well, then why are they troubling everyone by carrying out the SIR? I have nothing to do with the notice issued by the ECI..." he said. INDIA bloc manifesto talks about employment, introduction of Old Pension Scheme, said CPI(ML) Liberation leader Dipankar Bhattacharya. Mahagathbandhan promises to remove ban on toddy if voted to power, says all contractual workers in Bihar govt departments, 'Jeevika Didis' to be made permanent. The manifesto promises IT parks, SEZs, dairy, agro-based industries, education city, 5 new expressways in the state. He said the manifesto has 25 major points. After releasing the INDIA bloc's manifesto 'Tejashwi Pran' for the 2025 Bihar polls, RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan CM candidate Tejashwi Yadav says, "Today, whether you go to the block office or the police station, nothing gets done without paying a bribe. Officers have become so overbearing that elected representatives are no longer respected and their voices are ignored. A minister remains a minister in name only, he is powerless and cannot get anything done... This time the people of Bihar will bring change." After releasing INDIA bloc's manifesto for Bihar elections, Congress leader Pawan Khera says, "You've seen that the Mahagathbandhan was the first to announce its CM candidate. It was also the Mahagathbandhan that released its pledges - what we call our manifesto, first. Some people (referring to the NDA) dismiss such pledges as mere rhetoric, but we released ours today before anyone else. This clearly shows who is serious about Bihar, who is thinking about the state day and night.â Mahagathbandhan releases its manifesto titled 'Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran' for the upcoming Bihar Election 2025. JD(U) leader KC Tyagi said, "Our manifesto has already been implemented â whether it is about social empowerment or unemployment. We are ahead of them (Mahagathbandhan) in every field..." Chief Minister Nitish Kumar says, "Earlier, some miscreants used to create disturbances in Hindu temples during the evenings. To prevent incidents like theft and misconduct, since 2016, we have ensured boundary construction around Hindu temples that are over 60 years old..." NDA is likely to release its 'Viksit Bharat' manifesto on October 30. ECI issues notice to Prashant Kishor on two voter-id cards. Returning Officer, Kargahar Assembly Constituency writes to Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor "According to a news item published on 28.10.2025, your name is registered in the electoral rolls of Bihar and West Bengal.... Therefore, you should present your side within three days regarding the entry of your name in more than one constituency." 'Toddy' to be exempted from anti-liquor law in Bihar if INDIA bloc comes to power, declares RJD's Tejashwi Yadav at poll rally in Saran. On Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor's remarks on voter ID, Union Minister Chirag Paswan says, "When you yourself have two voter IDs, how can you question others or claim to expose othersâ so-called 'pol khol', when you are the one facing allegations of dual voter registration yourself?" On NDAâs Chief Ministerial face, Union Minister Chirag Paswan says, "How many times will the same announcement be made? Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is leading the elections and as the Home Minister has already mentioned, MLAs will come and MLAs will elect, this is the normal democratic process. When people cite the example of Rajasthan, they forget that there, one party was contesting and that party had already declared its CM face..." On SIR implementation, the Great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Tushar Gandhi, says, "I feel that there is a deep, silent anger visible among the people of Bihar. They are dissatisfied and disillusioned with the current sy...
